I Didn’t Achieve My Goals for My Network Marketing Business – What Happened?

December 1, 2008

piece of the success puzzleI had a conversation yesterday with one of my downline associates. She was getting discouraged because her business wasn’t growing like she had hoped.

Julie had set goals for her network marketing business when she started a few months ago. We discovered that her goals were reasonable, but she had not laid the foundation for making them happen. This happens to lots of people. They create a goal (for example, I want to make $15,000 this year with my business) but fail to build the foundation under it.

These are some of the foundations you must build to make achieving your goals in network marketing a reality.

  • Create a real plan for action. Know what steps you must take to achieve your goal, and make them measurable. You must be able to track your progress.
  • Develop a truly realistic time frame for achieving your goal. Don’t shoot for a $50,000 income your first year when $20,000 is more reasonable. Consult your upline leaders for help in determining a realistic number.
  • Know why you want to achieve your goals. It’s very important to know and feel the “why” for what you want to do.
  • Learn to focus and avoid unnecessary distractions. Stay on your action plan. Don’t get off track trying to re-invent the wheel. Stick with methods that have been proven effective.
  • Learn all you can about your network marketing business – the products, the compensation plan, answers to frequently asked questions, and ways to deal with common objections. Knowledge defeats fear, which is the top cause of failure in [tag-tec]network marketing[/tag-tec].
  • Ask for support when you need it. Your upline team is there to help. Don’t let pride stand in your way – let them help you. A team working together can do far more than one person working alone.

Be sure you have all these things covered. Goals without a foundation under them are destined to almost sure failure. Don’t let this happen to you.
