For Network Marketing Success – Know Your Business and the Industry

February 15, 2009

dice that says do itWhen you’re new to network marketing, you’ll always get questions about your business or the concept of network marketing in general that you can’t really answer well. It’s okay to say “I’m new, but I’ll get the answer for you.” Your prospects will respect this.

However, be careful not to play the “newbie” card for too long. If your goal is to make a significant income with your network marketing business, it is essential that you learn all you can about your company, your products, and the industry in general.

If you can easily answer a prospect’s questions without having to hesitate and “come up with something”, you will come across as professional and knowledgeable. This significantly increases your odds of sponsoring your prospects into your business.

Here are some ways to get up to speed.

Your company and upline group will usually have conference and training calls on a regular schedule. Get in on these as often as possible, even if you think you already know all about the call’s topic.

Learn about the different ways your network marketing business can be promoted. If you’re in a company where home parties are often used for product sales and recruiting, you don’t necessarily have to do them yourself. However, you should talk to people who do them successfully and get a good idea of how they work. This will get you prepared to answer questions about them from your prospects.

Obtain and listen to generic business building presentations by respected network marketing trainers like Tom “Big Al” Schreiter and John Milton Fogg.

Ongoing success in network marketing requires ongoing education and training. The top leaders that I know never stop studying and learning. It’s a habit of learning, an open mind, and an attitude of success that builds strong incomes and organizations.

It’s hard to overestimate just how important it is to build a significant market and product knowledge base. I think that’s one area in which a lot of people stop short–with disastrous consequences.

I agree with you that you need to know as much about your company, your product and your industry as possible. At the same time, network marketing’s success hinges on ease of duplication. I’ve heard it said before that showing you don’t need to know everything is actually attractive to prospects. The learning curve doesn’t intimidate them.

    Hello Brett,

It isn’t necessary to know everything. It’s okay to jump in and get started with just the basics. Sometime, though, network marketers will lean on being “new” for far too long and neglect to take time for personal education and growth.

Get started with just the basics – learn as you go and build up knowledge of your company, products, and the industry – you don’t need to know it all when you’re just getting started. In fact, you don’t ever need to know it all – just make learning and growth an ongoing habit, this helps you be successful.

    Eldon
