Find and Maintain Focus – A Key to Success in Network Marketing
May 12, 2009
What is the first thing an aspiring network marketing entrepreneur needs to have, in order to have the best shot at achieving success? What is the one thing, if you lack it, that can drag you down and stop you from building the business you dreamed of?
There is one factor that determines, as much as anything else, whether you’ll be successful in network marketing or any other home based business. If you enjoy listening to motivational speakers like Jim Rohn or Tony Robbins, you may have heard this over and over, because all the “how to achieve success” gurus talk about it.
This key factor for success is:
FOCUS
Lack of focus has destroyed many new network marketing businesses before they’ve had a chance to get off the ground. This often happens to new or unseasoned business builders who have big dreams but little experience in business.
Here is a typical scenario. Jim signs up with an excellent network marketing opportunity. He begins to take part in a success training program that is sponsored by his upline group. Not long after he starts his training, he gets an email about some hot new opportunity that is going to take the world by storm. It all looks so good, and Jim takes notice.
About a week later, Jim decides to sign up with this new program, since it will position him on the “cutting edge” of a massive consumer revolution that is almost ready to break loose. Or something like that. He is now essentially starting over again. We’ll see this pattern with Jim over and over – he is always attracted by the “latest and greatest”, and never stays with one thing for long.
What causes behavior like this? I’ve heard it said that moving from one thing to another is a way to avoid work. To focus on one opportunity, one training program, and carry it to completion is not easy. This process is what separates the winners in network marketing from the also-rans who never seem to get off the ground.
Please – if you only take one thing away from this short article, let it be this: pick a good solid network marketing business that offers a real training system, then dive into that system and follow it through until you start making money and having success. There will be times it isn’t easy, and times when just about anything else looks more promising. If you have chosen wisely, and stick to the plan, you’ll do well!
