Network Marketers and the GOFMOT Syndrome
February 26, 2009
You see yourself as a successful network marketer. You have the desire and the ability to make great money in this business. One thing may be holding you back, though – the “greater opportunity for me over there” syndrome.
This affliction causes you to move from one network marketing opportunity to another, before you’ve been in one long enough to make any money!
It’s said that one of the greatest fears of a home business builder is settling down and making something work, overcoming all challenges that arise, and pushing one business to a point of success no matter what. It isn’t that you have to be the top earner in the company or anything, but you should build the business to a point where you’re making money, and your group has momentum and continues to grow at a steady pace.
Why is this so hard for so many?
When building your network marketing business gets tough, perhaps even boring, it’s easy to check around and look at other options. Other opportunities can look pretty good, especially if they have slick promotion and make a convincing presentation. “Get on board now for the ride of your life!”
Daydreaming is easy when you’ve hit the hardest part of pushing your business to success. Great promotional copy and slick videos make it so much easier to enter a fantasy land where all the problems you see with your current business are magically solved in another world. Over the fence.
Beating the temptation to move from one network marketing business to another repeatedly is so much harder now than before. With the power of the Internet, you can see the best side of just about every tempting new opportunity out there – all from the comfort of your home. No meetings, no hassles – just hit a site, watch a video, hear an audio, view a Powerpoint presentation. It’s so easy to get distracted like this!
If you’re involved with a stable network marketing company, and have a good upline and proven path to follow for success, realize that you will hit some really discouraging times on your way up. Don’t think that successful network marketers all around the world haven’t faced the same challenges. The ones you see making the good money and enjoying the nice lifestyles stuck with one opportunity until they got it moving and started making some money.
From there, the road is straighter and the path a little smoother. Hang in there and focus on the business at hand.
